Terms of Service
Serenity Discord Bot
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Overview
These terms cover your use of Serenity ("the bot", "we", "our"): the Discord bot and its website and dashboard at serenitybot.app. By adding Serenity to a server, using its commands, or logging in to the dashboard, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Serenity.
Serenity is a free, open-source hobby project. How it handles data is described in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.
Using Serenity
- You must follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, including Discord's minimum age, whenever you use Serenity.
- Don't use Serenity to harass people, to break the law, or to collect information about people without a lawful reason.
- Don't try to disrupt or overload the bot, the website or the API, get around its permission checks, or access servers, tickets or transcripts you weren't given access to.
- Don't use the outgoing webhook feature to send ticket data somewhere you aren't allowed to.
Server Administrators
If you add Serenity to a server or configure it, you are responsible for how it's used there. In particular:
- Tickets store the messages in ticket channels as transcripts, along with form answers, ratings and staff notes (see the Privacy Policy). Each ticket says whether it's recorded. Make sure your members know how tickets are used in your server, and set retention to what you need.
- Webhooks you add send ticket events to the address you choose. Once sent, that data is your responsibility and governed by whoever runs that address.
- Moderation actions taken through Serenity are yours, made on your server's behalf.
- Give Serenity's roles and staff roles only the permissions they need.
Availability
Serenity is provided free, "as is" and "as available". We try to keep it running and reliable, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that features won't change or be removed. Keep your own copies of anything important to you; we don't guarantee that data such as transcripts can be recovered.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Serenity, including lost data, interruptions, or actions taken in your server by the bot or by people using it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Ending Use
You can stop using Serenity at any time by removing it from your server and logging out of the dashboard; you can ask for your data to be deleted as the Privacy Policy describes. We may stop providing Serenity to a server or user that breaks these terms, or stop the service altogether.
Open Source
Serenity's source code is available at github.com/patelheet30/Serenity under the GNU General Public License v3.0. These terms cover the hosted bot and website; the licence covers the code.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and significant changes will be announced in the support server. Continuing to use Serenity after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without taking away any rights you have under the law of where you live.
